How to Use My JpGU?

Terms of Use

Users

You can search for researchers, their profiles, their works and PEPS articles via My JpGU. Please register as a member of JpGU to use My JpGU. For more details, please see Registration Guide/ Procedures. Your account for My JpGU will be activated within 1 week after registration to Japan Geoscience Union. (The activation may require more time during meeting seasons or long-term holidays.)

This website is recommended to be used with one of the browsers listed below. All functions may not work properly with others. You can download or upgrade the browsers listed below for free.

Search in My JpGU

Researchers

You can search for My JpGU registered researchers by name, affiliation, section or field of study.

From search results, you can view each researcher's profile.

*My JpGU account is activated within one week after registration to Japan Geoscience Union. Therefore, search for new registered researchers may take at most one week to be applicable.
(The activation may require more time during meeting seasons or long-term holidays.)

Research Works

Here, you can search for research works registered in My JpGU profiles or files and links added to File cabinet.

From search results, you can view each researcher's works and profile.

PEPS Articles

You can search for Progress in Earth and Planetary Science(PEPS)articles. Search results are provided with citation format for each article. You can directly copy the format for your use. Clicking on an article title will bring you to the PEPS website where you can view the article.

*To search for articles published after the last modified date of the site, it may take a few days after publishing to be available for search.

Researcher's Profile

From Researchers search results page, you can view a researcher profile by clicking on each name.
You can view contents below in Profile.

No. Content Description
1 Personal Information Researcher's name, affiliation, Email address, website, SNS, section, field of study. Information about website and SNS is shown only when it has been registered.
2 Topics Researcher's self introduction and works topics, if available.
3 Research works List of research works, if available. Clicking on each work will bring you to the website where the work is contained.
4 File cabinet List of supplemental materials for presentations at JpGU or other links, if available.
5 Movie Related movies, if available.

Login to My JpGU

Login

Please register as a member of JpGU to use My JpGU. For more details, please see Registration Guide/ Procedures.

To login, please use member ID of Japan Geoscience Union as ID with My JpGU password. For the first time login or when you forgot your password, please initialize your password at 'Login for the first time / Forgot your password?', by entering login ID (Union member ID) and clicking 'Send'. You will receive an email containing a link that will allow you to reset your password. Please reset your password according to the procedures in the email.

My Profile

After logging in to My JpGU, you can edit your profile.

*Please register as a member of JpGU to use My JpGU. Your account for My JpGU will be activated within 1 week after registration to Japan Geoscience Union. (The activation may require more time during meeting seasons or long-term holidays.)

Profile Privacy Settings

You can set Privacy settings of your profile as well as affiliation, Email, Website, SNS including.

3 status of Privacy settings are available.

(Profile)
The entire privacy settings of your profile page are controlled by the settings of your name. If you set your name as "Private", your profile page will be non-public. All your personal information, Topics, Research works and File cabinet cannot be viewed nor searched.
If you set your name as "Members only", your profile page will be limited visible to members only and this will make "Public" inapplicable to affiliation, Email, Website and SNS. Search for your information and research works is exclusive to JpGU members as well.

Click “Privacy Settings” button in My Profile to set the privacy settings of each entry and check all settings here.

Edit Personal Information

You can add and show your profile image, websites, SNS and field of study. Field of study registered here will be used as one of search criteria in search for researchers. Please select your proper fields.

*Name, affiliation, Email address and section cannot be changed in My JpGU. Please change them via JpGU member management system. The change will be applicable to My JpGU by one week after changing in JpGU member management system. (The activation may require more time during meeting seasons or long-term holidays.)

Edit Topics

Topics are used for introducing your research works via your profile. Add your topics matching with your registered works and contents in file cabinet. Topics should be written within 400 characters in Japanese, or 150 words in English.

WYSIWYG editor allows you to edit your topics easily. Just input any words and adjust them by the tool bar.

Add Description and Edit Formatting

Add topics to text area. Select text and click on the tool bar above to edit the formatting.

Add Links

Use link tool to add your links to other sites.

Add Images

Use image tool to add images. You can use image tool to upload image files or post an image displaying in other sites to your topics.

Edit Research Works

Here you can add or edit your research works to show on your profile.

Add/Edit Research Works

You can add or edit your research works by clicking on 'Add Research Work' or 'Edit' button. Title, Research Category and Research Type are required. By selecting DOI as ID type and entering DOI, the link to your work will be automatically generated.

Update Display Order

To change the display order, drag & drop arrows on the left of titles and click 'Update display order' button to save the change.

Import Research Works

You can import your Research works by 'Research Works Import Format'. Download 'Research works import format', fill in the format and import. Please refer to the 'How to fill in Research Works Import Format' below or the same sheet in the downloaded format.

How to fill in Research Works Import Format?

Synchronize Research Works with ORCID Record

You can synchronize your Research works in My JpGU with ORCID Record by authenticating ORCID iD via My JpGU. After completing authenticating with your ORCID iD, select a direction of synchronization then select your targeted works to start synchronization. For more information about ORCID, please see here.

Download Research Works

You can download your research works in the format of your choice.
Please select a format and click “Download”. The formats listed below are available.

Edit File Cabinet

Here, you can add and edit supplemental materials and related links for your research works.

File

Add/Edit File

You can upload PDF or image files. File format should be PDF, JPEG, JPG, PNG or GIF. A PDF file should be under 10MB while an image should be under 5MB. You can upload to 20 files at maximum. To upload, enter Title, select a file and click 'Save'.

*Please be aware of each publisher's rules on publication for articles PDF or figures you added. Japan Geoscience Union is not responsible for any damages caused by copyright infringement in File cabinet.

Show/Hide File

You can show or hide your files by clicking 'Show' or 'Hide' for each file.

Update Display Order

To change the display order, drag & drop arrows on the left of 'Show/Hide' and click 'Update display order' button to save the change.

Other Links

Add/Edit Other Links

Fill in or edit each fields and click 'Save'. By selecting DOI as ID Type, a link will be automatically generated.

Update Display Order

To change the display order, drag & drop arrows on the left of 'Show/Hide' and click 'Update display order' button to save the change.

Edit Movie

You can post related movies uploaded on YouTube. Click 'Add Movie' or 'Edit', fill in each fields and click 'Save'.

Add Movie and YouTube ID

You can see YouTube Video ID on the URL when you are playing that movie on YouTube. Please copy the ID to fill in 'Video ID' field.

Private Message

You can send a private message to any JpGU members without knowing their contact addresses.

Send Private Message

You can send a message from a recipient’s profile page. Click on “Send Private Message” , fill in Subject and Text, put a check in the authentication checkbox then click the “Send” button.

*The “Send Private Message” button is not available on the users’ profile pages where the Private Message configuration is set to “OFF”.

*We use Google’s reCAPTCHA service to protect the website from spam and abuse. Please put a check in the authentication checkbox before sending a message.

Receive Private Message

You can see your received messages in your Inbox. The number of unread messages is displayed on the grand menu as (N). Click it to open your Inbox.

Click a subject to read the text. To reply, fill in your text, put a check in the authentication checkbox and click “Reply” button.

Private Message Configuration

Click “Account” on the grand menu to see your Private Message configuration.
By selecting “OFF” at Private Message configuration, other JpGU members will not be able to send you a private message, and you will not able to send other JpGU members a message also.

Bookmark Researchers

You can bookmark researchers as your 'Bookmarked Researchers' where you can access their profiles again more quickly.

Add/Remove Bookmarked Researchers

To add a bookmarked researcher, click 'Bookmark' under a researcher's name in each profile page. To remove, click the same button once again or if you are in 'Bookmarked Researchers' page, click on the star button left above each record to remove one from your list.

Other Functions

Change Password

You can change your password at 'Change Password' in 'Account' menu.

Remove Profile

You can remove your profile at 'Remove Profile' in 'Account' menu. Click 'Remove Profile' to remove your account from My JpGU.

Please be aware that after removing your profile, you will not be able to view your profile and all your submitted data, nor login to My JpGU.

To reactivate your profile, please send your request to Japan Geoscience Union by email.(myjpgu@jpgu.org)My JpGU will be reactivated after JpGU completed your identity verification.
